
Shelley Yoelin Quintet
Shelley Yoelin, retired Chair of the Fine Arts Department and Director of Bands and Jazz Studies at Triton College, River Grove, Illinois. Previously, he was Chair of the Music Program at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hill, Illinois. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern University and a Master of Music Education degree from VanderCook College of Music, Chicago, Illinois. In addition to his teaching at Triton College, he is a long time instructor with the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Clinics and the International Federation of Jazz (London, England).
Mr. Yoelin plays the saxophone, clarinet and flute and performs constantly with Jazz and Commercial music groups in the Chicago and Palm Springs area. He has recorded five albums with the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band, two albums with his own group-The Modern Klezmer Quartet and his most recent collaboration is the “Jazz Workshop Septet.” Their CD “Secret Steps,” was recently released on the Blu Jazz label. These groups have performed nationally and internationally.
